A little introduction to Beloved portrait sessions in Swansea

I’ve recently started offering Beloved portrait sessions here in Swansea, and I’m really, really excited about it!  I’m aware, though, that most of you won’t have heard of this kind of session and have no idea what they’re all about.

So, here’s a little introduction for you!

The Beloved approach to portrait sessions was created by a photographer named Jesh de Rox, and was originally aimed at long-term couples, to provide a space for them to reconnect and rediscover their love for each other.

Beloved sessions are all about the relationships and interactions between you and your loved ones.  They aren’t just about having your picture taken.  They aren’t really about that at all.  They’re an opportunity to take time out of the hustle and bustle of everyday life and remember all the things you love about your partner and your family, with the huge bonus of having beautiful photos at the end as a reminder!

During your Beloved session you will be ‘invited’ into the experience with questions and scenarios that allow you to reconnect with your loved ones and really think about all the things that make you love them.

Beloved as a technique has now evolved from the original idea of being just for long-term couples and has developed into a technique that works beautifully for a whole range of situations.  I currently offer Beloved maternity, baby and family sessions, but am very open to the idea of working with couples looking to experience this kind of session but who may either not have children or whose children are already grown up!

Are you wondering if this kind of session might be for you?

If you’re pregnant and want to have some quiet time with your partner before the baby arrives, to reconnect and cement the love you have for each other – Beloved is for you.

If you’re pregnant and want some time just for you and your bump, to focus on the amazing experience of carrying a child and the connection between you and your baby – Beloved is for you.

If you’re a new parent and want a few hours to stop and cherish the new life you have created and the love that surrounds this baby – Beloved is for you.

If you are a family who are juggling work, nursery, school, after-school clubs, sports and life in general, and you want some time together to reconnect, laugh and appreciate one another again – Beloved is for you.

Beloved is for anyone who wants to celebrate the love they have in their life!

Beloved is just such a beautiful thing, I would love for you to experience it for yourself.

If you’d like to book a session or just have a chat to see if it’s for you, I’d love to hear from you.  You can contact me via my ‘get in touch’ page.

A few changes…

Things are changing a bit around here! I’ve been working away refining what I offer and am now really happy to announce my new sessions!

I’m now offering two types of portrait photography sessions in Swansea:

Lifestyle sessions and Beloved sessions.

Both types of session are perfect for maternity, baby and family portraits.

I’ll be writing more soon about what makes these sessions so amazing, but for now here’s a quick overview of what they are all about.

Lifestyle photography is about telling the real story of you and your family.

It’s not just about what you look like, it’s about what your life looks like.

When you book a lifestyle portrait session with me we will have a chat about what you like to do with your loved ones and plan a 1-2 hour session around that. You will enjoy doing the normal things you like to do together and I will document it for you, creating beautiful, real images for you to cherish.

You can find more information on Lifestyle photography here and I’ll be writing more about what it’s all about and why I love it soon!

And what about Beloved sessions?  Well, I’m really excited about these!  They are so much more than just portrait photography sessions.  They are a truly wonderful experience.

A Beloved session with your partner is like an amazing first date.  It’s a chance to rediscover all the reasons you fell in love in the first place.  It’s a reason to spend some real quality time together.

Beloved sessions are also a wonderful way to spend a few hours with your new baby or your family.

I have so much more to say about Beloved; I’ll be writing a lot more about it in the next few days and weeks!  In the meantime, you can get a bit more information here.

If you’d like to find out detailed information on the sessions I offer and to be amongst the first to know about any promotions or special offers, then head over and sign up for my newsletter!

10 on 10 project – July 2014

And so onto July!  I love how this project makes me stop every month and record those little details of what our life looks like right now!
And life in July 2014 looked like:

Pretty flowers in the garden
Still lots of coffee needed!
Creative play with pom poms and home-made play dough
Practising the alphabet
An inquisitive baby
Little baby flares!

8 years on..

It was the day of my sister’s wedding and I had held it together through the whole service.  Then, just when I thought I was home and dry, she decided she wanted to read something out.  And with a few simple words she had the whole family welling up.

“Today I have married my best friend”

8 years later and thinking about that speech still almost makes me start crying.  Big, happy tears of course!  I just find it amazing how one line can bring emotions flooding back.  One little detail can take you right back to the moment.

There are a few things that take me straight back to my sister’s wedding day…

The quote above…

These lyrics; that my Dad read out as part of his speech.

And this photo of me, taken by my then-boyfriend/now-husband.

It was during the group shots.  My boyfriend was off to the side, taking pictures of the group, and snapped this photo.  Of everyone else doing what they were supposed to and looking at the official photographer.  And of me, with eyes only for him.  Probably imagining a day in the future that we would be saying our vows.

“I think my boyfriend’s ever so dreamy.  I wonder what our wedding’s gonna be like”

And if you know that quote then you and me can be best friends!

This is one of the things that I love about photography.  One picture can sum up everything about who you were and how you felt in that moment.  One glance at the picture and everything can come flooding back to you.

So, Imogen and Andy, this one is for you.

Here’s to remembering that feeling of perfect happiness!

Here’s to remembering that wonderful feeling that came with marrying your best friend, that kept a huge smile on your faces all day long!

Here’s to many, many more years of the same!
