So you’re looking for a photographer, let’s make sure you’re looking in the right place and that I’m the right photographer for you!

See, if you’re looking for perfectly styled and posed photos then I’m not the photographer for you.  There are no babies in buckets or magical fairyland backgrounds here.  There’s no studio and no saying cheese and smiling for the camera.

Instead your session will be built around you and your family.

It will tell your story, including all those little details that you want to remember about your life right now.  It will be about the real moments, not just the perfect ones.  Real is the new perfect after all!

So, how does it work?

When you first get in touch to discuss your session I’ll ask you some questions to get to know you a bit.

Then we’ll plan an activity to build your session around.

On the day of your session we’ll meet at the agreed location.  This might be one of the gorgeous parks in central Swansea – Singleton, Cwmdonkin, Brynmill, Dunvant – whichever park you like to visit as a family.  It might be Swansea marina or anywhere along the front at Swansea bay.  It might be your home.

Once we’ve said our hellos we’ll begin.

We’ll start with some lifestyle photos, to help you warm up a bit and get used to the camera.

I might suggest a place to sit or stand, and possibly guide you to put your arms round each other, or hold your baby a certain way.  Then I’ll ask you some questions or give you some little games to play to get you interacting with each other.  This way you aren’t worrying about ‘smiling for the camera’ and we get much more natural and genuine expressions in your photos.

After this stage I’ll move to a more documentary approach, where you simply do your thing as a family and I’ll record it.

This is where our pre-session chat comes in to play.  We’ll arrange in advance what activity you would like to do as a couple or a family and then you can just get to it while I record all the details for you.

This could be you taking a walk around Swansea marina together or making sandcastles on the beach at Swansea bay.  It might be feeding the ducks in Brynmill park or feeding your baby at home.  There are so many possibilities for your session, just think about what parts of your life and your routine you want to hold on to and we’ll go from there!

After your session I will go through all your photos and select the very best to edit.

I won’t do any drastic editing to your photos.  I want you to look like you, not a photoshopped version of you.
What I will do is tweak the images to perfect light levels and colours.  I will most likely convert some of the images to black and white, because some documentary photos are just so much better that way!

From your 2 hour session you can expect to receive 20-25 edited images, and I aim to get them to you within 2-3 weeks of your session.
